Those DARN Swedish people!!

26 Feb

They did it again. The Swedes.
Won the never-ending cool-music-factor-competetion!

Denmark really has a lot of GREAT stuff happening on the music scene, but somehow that special Swedish touch, just always sneaks in and adds an extra layer of laid back and effortless cooooooool to things from up north. It’s equally annoying and inspirational ;)

Stumbled across this today (thanks to Friedericke Guggolz!) and I totally love it!

Love it love it love it!! For more on Nottee go here.
Enjoy the weekend!

Lovely, lovely Glasser!

9 Feb

Glasser is the stage name of L.A. musician, Cameron Mesirow. I found her debut album “Ring” at the Rough Trade shop at Brick Lane market in London in october last year, and ever since then I’ve been completely smitten.

Her album really took to my liking and it was with me a lot of the time while I was travelling ’round Europe. Maybe I have an extra dimension to her music, because of all the memories? but I reeeeeeeally like it!

Listen to the first track on the album: “Apply”.

Maybe you already know her and love her to?
If you saw some of the picture movies I made along the trip, you’ll probably remember her sound to. For instance the one from the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, that I’m still totally in love with.
The track here is called, T. (Make sure to pass the cemetery if you’re in the eastern part of Paris at some point. HUGE experience!)

Anyways! Glasser has my best of recommendations and you should really get moving and spend a little money on this brilliant piece of work! Being a big fan of the Fever Ray project, I wasn’t at all surprised to read that two of the Fever Ray producers Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid (alongside producer Ariel Rechtshaid) were also involved in the making of “Ring”. An album that doesn’t have an ending nor a start, and therefore goes on and on for ever and ever in a never ending loop …

Or, at least it could :)

Also, you might wanna check out this loooooovely remix that Jamie XX did last year. “Tremel” in it self is a really nice track, but Jamie XX added some more bass, changed the tempo a few places and in my opinion, really made a perfect remix! (Kinda makes you feel like it’s already Friday night!)

Live at Lille Vega
This Sunday Glasser finally came to Copenhagen and I went to see the concert with some good friends. Yai!
It totally met my expectations – and then some.

Really an amazing concert where everything just fits together and where sound, light, costumes and the intensity of the music just makes everything flow towards you, grab you and gently suck you into all the wonders.

Ahhh … A perfect way to end a weekend and begin a new week!

For more on Glasser go here and make sure to treat yourself to her album. It’s available at iTunes store. Really easy. I’m totally convinced that you deserve it …
It’s Wednesday!

New, new, new!

26 Jan

As you may have noticed, I’ve made a few changes to my blog and turned it into blog and website and portfolio and bilingual what-have-we extravaganza! : )

The reason to all of these changes is that I’ve started my own freelance copywriting business. Sooooo exciting!

This was actually the plan all along, but I’ve been down sick with an insane illness that causes fever, swollen legs and arthritis in the entire body! Jeiks!! I tell you it was painful! Double jeiks! So all my plans have been set a side for 8 weeks, but now I’m finally ready to really get started!

YAI!!
I’m really glad about this (both the being well part and the freelance thing) and already did my first days of freelance work at a really nice agency here in Copenhagen. Yai! If you’re interested in what I do or in need of some copy writing assistance, then please go check out my portfolio.

So, I’m back on track, no more illness and lying down in pain! It’s over! And as my all time favourite Gonzales puts it: “It aint over ‘til Beth Ditto sings”
– and luckily … she does! : )

Enjoy!

They made this possible!!
All my friends, near and far, for carrying me through this insane sickness and for supporting me in this new adventure!
As regards to both Gonzales and Beth Dito link a great big fat thank you to my German friends Cris and Jan Henning!

Making your Tuesday seem like Thursday!

18 Jan

It’s not new.
It’s not even a video.

But boy oh boy! does it work!!

I love this track from Canadian duo Junior Boys
Taken from the 2006 album entitled : So this is goodbye.

Enjoy!

Makes my right feet start jazzing to the beat and my mind think of where to go this weekend all though I actually just decided on staying home.

Happy (almost) Thursday!
Hang in there.

Yai!

Thanks to my friend Jan Henning for yet another LOVELY song!

I’m in love … again

15 Dec

To night I found the most amazing site. I cannot believe I haven’t seen this before? According to the site the hype has been immense!! But of course, I don’t live in NYC ; )

ANYWAYS. The Selby dot com. Run by Todd Selby. Portrait/interiors/fashion photographer and illustrator. Specialising in photographing all kinds of creative people in their homes and interviewing them in the wonderfully silly form of handwritten questionnaires. Perfect!

So. You need to go to THE SELBY … Immediately!
Here you’ll find tons of lovely pictures of fantastic homes and of people so amazing you want to chew your arm of!

For instance : Urban farmer, Annie Novak.

And I must warn you. There is a serious jealousy alert on this one!

Ohhhhh how I love my life (besides of course this temporary sickness and the being in bed one more month …) BUT this site is really amazing. I want to be all of these persons! NOW!

Please?

Pharrel Williams flashing his “kidult” lifestyle … I totally get it!

My hero George Lois and his ever powerful smile

Imagine waking up in that bed … Home of Lyndsay Caleo, goldsmith and interior designer; and Fitzhugh Karol, woodworker and interior designer. Wow!

…. these are just a few of the ton of pictures and stories that awaits you at The Selby, and of course there’s also a video that just makes you wanna dye your hair, quit your job and buy a skateboard …

I LOVE IT!

The sound of 2011 is : Yai !

7 Dec

Just recently BBC released their Sound of 2011 predictions, listing the 15 most promising somewhat unknown artist. 15 bands, singers, rappers and producers to keep an extra eye on as we enter 2011.

There’s a lot (a LOT!) of interesting artists on the full list, so it’s quite hard to pick out favourites, but for me, personally, it’s a big fat thumbs up and woo hooo! to Warpaint, Jamie Woon and Jai Paul.

Can’t wait to hear more!

First up: Warpaint.
2 songs for you. Lovely live version of the light and dreamy “Billie Holiday”, which you might have heard on your radio? – and then of course their brilliantly beautiful cover of one of my favourite Bowie song: Ashes to ashes.
Ahhh … Feels like floating on feathers.

Secondly: Jamie Woon
I know nothing of this man, but I have a good feeling, that I will. Really soon.
This track makes me wanna go clubbing, celebrate new years and host a huge outdoor party all at once! I’m not sure that’s a proof of anything, besides my urgent need for at party!, but it really has a nice energy to it.

Third up : Jai Paul
I have no idea how to categorize this (and maybe that’s the whole point?). But no matter what it is, it’s amazing. That’s for sure. Hugely interesting.
Really like it!

Wauw!

In early 2010, BBC will be back with an even shorter version of the list, as they announce the top 5 of promising 2011 artist. And on January 7th, they should be down to just 1 act : The all round winner of The BBC sound of 2011.

I predict that it’s going to be unbearably hard to choose from this line up!

Yai!
